Derek Haines, MBE, QPM, CPM
CEO and President
Derek is a decorated, industry-acknowledged crisis and disaster expert, with a 50 year career across both the public and private sectors.
A former Chief Superintendent with over 40 years of policing experience across the Caribbean, UK and Hong Kong, Derek was handpicked to head the Health, Safety, Security and Crisis Management department for Dart Enterprises. In this role Derek oversaw the planning, preparation, training and execution of disaster management and crisis solutions for Dart Enterprises’ Cayman operations.
At the 2018 US National Hurricane Conference, Derek was asked to join the Caribbean and Tropical Islands Hurricane Committee, tasked with coordinating multi-national training, planning, response and logistics for disaster management and recovery in the region.
Whilst a serving Chief Superintendent, Derek was charged with drafting the Cayman Islands National Crisis Management Plan for the Cayman Islands Government, coordinating multiple government agencies in preparing, training and responding to crisis on the national level.
Derek has coordinated crisis management exercises in Cayman and Anguilla, delivered presentations at the National Hurricane Conference in the USA and lectured at the police training school in Jamaica, Barbados, and the wider Caribbean region.
In 2004 Derek took Command of the Royal Cayman Islands Police on the approach of the catastrophic category 5 Hurricane Ivan and led that body throughout the emergency. He oversaw and directed national and international operations to preserve and save life, maintain public order, prevent looting, quell outbreaks of disorder at the prison and ensure the safety of national key assets. Derek received the Queen’s Police Medal (QPM) for his leadership and actions during Hurricane Ivan.
Derek’s further professionalism and dedication have been acknowledged on three separate occasions by Her Majesty the Queen in Her birthday honours, including being appointed as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE), in 2015.
Christopher Haines, ACII, bsc

Chris is a qualified, experienced insurance practitioner. Chris has held numerous senior positions in the world-renowned Lloyd’s of London insurance market for over a decade. Having initially learned his trade as a broker, Chris moved into commercial underwriting, eventually heading up a business unit at a Lloyd’s Syndicate and specialising in Property, Liability and Business Interruption. Chris currently provides consultant underwriting services to AIG.
Chris studied for a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree at Loughborough University before completing his Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Chris was officially recognised for his actions during and in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, which devastated the Cayman Islands in September 2004.

Phil Quinn has over 10 years in operations, management and business continuity experience across the Caribbean, the UK, Canada and the United States.
Holding a Bachelors degree in Environmental Economics and an MBA in International Business, Phil’s focus is on understanding and analysing the operations and logistics of our clients’ businesses to identify and mitigate disaster risks.
